according to my knowledge Ethyldimethylsilane and a ruthenium catalyst were used to reduce aliphatic carboxylic acids to the corresponding alcohol.. With tris(pentafluoro phenyl)borane as catalyst, triethylsilane reduces carboxylic acids to the alkane. you can check this link please .
