I have consistently obtained high Magnesium assay results on AAS regardless of samples that my analysts used. I need some ideas on sources of error or things to consider when doing the assay.
using the air-acetylene flame the most common interferences can be overcome by the addition of a known eccess of a releasing agent such us strontium (1000--5000 µg/ml) or lanthanium (10.000 µg/ml).
The nitrous oxide-acetylene flame shows no interference except a general absorbance enhance of 15% by the alkali metals due to the suppression of ionization.
