many methods you can use it to prepare thin film from polymer such as casting solution method (the easiest) and sol-gel.

The easiest ways are drop casting onto the substrate, spin coating, dip coating.
If you want control of membrane thickness, you can try casting the polymer solution between two slide glasses using some spacers(cover glasses or microbeads). The viscosity of the polymer solution, the solvent used, the substrate onto which it is casted, can help you narrow down the suitable method.

Layer-by-layer self assembly via dip coating is a simple technique for producing thin films in nm scale. Different polymers can be coated on surface depending on their physical or chemical properties.

In my work to produce films (based on hydrogel materials) I use centrifugal molding.
Due to method proposed it’s possible to receive film materials with different preset thickness, on the basis of compositions with different viscosity, filled (by dispersed powder fillers of organic and inorganic nature), multi-layer, reinforced by linings with different nature.
