There are no expected health risks to humans who apply this fungus as a pesticide or who eat crops that have been treated with the fungus Beauveria bassiana. Special precautions must be considered for pesticide handlers and for field workers who need to enter treated fields within certain short intervals after the biopesticide is applied. These workers must wear respiratory equipment and protective clothing, as described on the product labels.
Bees exposed to (or other insects) Beauveria bassiana on vegetation surface by accident or intent. But, when Beauveria bassiana located within the tissue of a plant... a friend (who specializes in human nutrition) warned me from the use of fungi within the tissue of a plant in order to avoid potential fungal toxins within the tissue of a plant (especially eaten fresh)... This is the focal point of question
I have seen your questions and answers. I have worked for more than 30 years in the research and development of biological pesticides. I am not a specialist in Beauveria bassiana, but I have never heard of that negative aspect of B. bassiana for human health.
I can say additionally that I am sure and convinced that in general sense, biological pesticides are much more harmless, environmentally friendly and healthier than chemical pesticides.
Though, to date no complaints have been received about Beauveria there is need to be handle with care. More studies need to be perform for Example on effect of enzymes and metabolites on mammal to better understand or identify consequences of endophyte or growth promoters
Studies didn't indicate any harmful effects of endophyte Beauveria bassiana, but I thing we need more detailed studies before be sure about this result.
