I will be conducting a research study of the relevance of teaching foreign language specifically Dutch in Sociology. How can it be beneficial for Caraga State University?
Some relevant literature on teaching foreign language in Sociology includes "Second Language Learning from an Integrated Sociology, Psychology, and Pedagogy" by Paul Malovrh, “The Impact of Globalization on Foreign Language Learning” by John Isbister, and “Language, Culture, and Power in the Global Classroom: A Sociological Perspective” by Elinor Ochs.
Dear Josephine, I think you might be looking for literature about foreign-language teaching for academic purposes. This should cover the needs of Sociology students as well.
Thank very much for your replies. I am still searching for an research instrument which I could adapt for my coming research thesis: UNDERSTANDING THE CHALLENGES AND BEST PRACTICES IN TEACHING DUTCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN
UNDERGRADUATE SOCIOLOGY COURSES. Andreas Wirag Stephen Kwasi Adjei Ana Monteza
@Josephine. To research the challenges and best practices in teaching Dutch as a foreign language, qualitative research methods such as interviews, focus groups, and surveys can be used. Additionally, quantitative research using observational methods may also be applied to supplement the qualitative data.
Yes, I completely agree with Stephen Kwasi Adjei. If you want to learn about the challenges of an education programme, it makes sense to conduct qualitative interviews with the stakeholders (i.e., teachers, students, administrators) after the programme has been conducted. If you want to know about best practices, those will derive from the current research literature - and from the interviews as "suggestions for improvement".
