Systematic: It means that research is structured with specified steps to be taken in a specified sequence in accordance with the well defined set of rules. Systematic characteristic of the research does not rule out (discard, prevent) creative thinking but it certainly does reject the use of guessing and intuition arriving at conclusions.
Logical: This implies that research is guided by the rules of logical reasoning and the logical process of induction and deduction are of great value in carrying out research. Induction is the process of reasoning from a part to the whole whereas deduction is the process of reasoning from the premise. In fact, logical reasoning makes research more meaningful in the context of decision making.
Provocative and innovative research, highly novel results, originality of technology, technical applicability.

This is a great question that you have raised. It is great because different people will come up with different answers and each answer can have different interpretation.
Now let me tell you my answer.
You know, I have a peculiar habit. I try to judge the importance of anything by the future it aims to bring for us. So when I go through a research article, I think that article should instigate some future scope of research. I try to understand that and I think that is the most important quality of a good research paper.
In my thesis and dissertations, throughout my life, I had always written about the future scope of the research under the heading "Importance of the Current Research". Probably most people will not agree with me. But that is the way I think. You know, why I think this way? I think this way because most us are doing everything not for the current but for the future. It also reminds me of a great saying of Voltaire. He said that none of us are living today, all of us are expecting to live one day.
