In Europe at least a lot has to do with the new variant of Covid-19 (B.1.1.7). There are graphs available that show that the dominant variant before this has kept dropping for the past weeks however the B.1.1.7 has gone from a few % of total cases to being the dominant variant. This is due to the shown higher virulence.

From mid‑March to mid‑May, Foods that are hard to digest are to be avoided. Those which are cold, viscous, heavy, sour, sweet are not preferred. New grains, curd, cold drinks, and so on, are also to be prohibited. From Mid‑May to mid‑July, salty and food with a pungent and sour taste and warm foods are to be avoided. From Mid‑July to mid‑September churned preparations having more water, excessive liquid, and wine are to be avoided. From mid‑September to mid‑November Hot, bitter, sweet, and astringent foods are to be avoided. The food items, such as fat, oils, meat, curds, etc., are also to be not included in the diet during this season. From Mid‑November to mid‑January light, cold, and dry foods are to be avoided. Intake of cold drinks is also contraindicated.
