We will start a detailed supply chain resilience assessment at Hurunui Region of New Zealand. The method a multi-step method, interviews, online surveys and phone calls. We collect qualitative and quantitative data. How would you do this kind of research? What are the main challenges?
Supply chains can get very complex. I'd start of by doing some mapping of the key supply chains that you want to survey. If you have a contact in a focal firm within the supply chain you could start the mapping process with them, and use them to provide you with initial contacts in the supply chain. The further away from the focal firm that you get response rates will fall and data returns are likely to be more inconsistent and patchy. I would recomend focusing more resouces on a small qualitative sample at first, maybe even just one or two supply chains, to provide some depth on the subject. Good luck.
