In interstitial solid solutions, the solute atom does not displace a solvent atom, but rather it enters one of the holes or interstices between the solvent atoms. Substitutional the solid solution is compounding easily when the elements for the solute and the solvent are convergent in volume and electronic structure.

It depends on the composition of your alloy, As Khalid Haneen has said "solute and the solvent are convergent in volume and electronic structure ". It means that you should study the atomic radius and the lattice parameter (remember the severe lattice distortion effect) of the alloy before selecting the suitable elements for alloying. Another point is that the thermodynamic parameters (electronegativity, mixing enthalpy...) should be given in account, for example adding carbon or nitrogen will lead to the formation of carbides, nitrides... increasing the number of phases ( I do not know if it is your goal).
