"A: 5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices. 5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries."
compared to 4G technology, 5G mobile communications technology brings with it two major system-technical innovations. These are:
Beamforming and Network Slicing
Beamforming: According to this concept, the 5G transmitting antenna specifically directs the radio waves to the places where the 5G users are. This has the advantage that several users can download their data at the same time without reducing the data rate for the other users.
Network Slicing: This technology is based on the concept of Virtual Software Defined Networks. In a physical 5G network, several “virtual” networks can be operated in parallel – a physical network is, so to speak, divided into several slices. This allows private virtual 5G networks to be set up.
