One approach for producing value-added products from NOx emissions in the atmosphere is "catalytic oxidation of NO" and the consequent production of nitric acid. As most of the flue gas NOx consists of NO, efficient conversion of NO into NO2 is a hotspot in this context (to have efficient production of nitric acid).
