To me it seems that the consideration of biases and validity threats is a matter of fashion. It is crucial to meticulously report how some of them have been taken care of while others can be safely ignored. I would argue that some of the more important biases and validity threats in academic research are often overlooked. Do you agree or disagree?
One researcher's unimportant factor might be another researcher's important one. I think that all validity threats and biases should be addressed. If one is to be ignored, that should be stated along with the reason for ignoring it. That way, readers can make up their own minds as to the validity of the overall results.
James E. McLean Good point. However, I would argue that it is impossible to take into account all biases and validity threats since (a) there are simply too many of them and (b) some of them are contradictory.
