CK 14 and 19 can be used as markers for tumors of odontogenic epithelial origin.

Amelogenin expression is a valuable tool to segregate other types of epithelial lesions that may develop within the oral and maxillofacial regions.

The expression of laminin 1 is seen in odontogenic epithelium, but not in mucosal epithelium. Thus, laminin 1 can be a marker for odontogenic epithelium.
