Which are the Limitations of Continuous adsorption refrigeration system run by solar energy? What are the main problems for designing and fabrication of this system?
A solar cooling system is a technology that results from coupling a cooling system with a solar collector, which provides heat to activate the cooling unit. It is necessary to develop solar collectors with high efficiency at high temperatures and cooling systems with high efficiency that can be activated at low temperatures both with low construction cost.
So far I see no limitations in this system. It is underdeveloped technology. I believe the concept of this system was born in U.S. in early fifties (if I am correct). It was used mostly by farmers. Then the concept became less popular when electricity and oil became a cheap commodity therefore industry switched to conventional (current) air conditioning system. In my opinion, you are making an excellent choice in pursuing it. Lots of opportunities for you to contribute, improve the technology and show your best of engineering skills.
Absorber and desorber are most important part of the system and the regeneration of the system fluid should be efficient to justice the advantages of this system
One of the problems is the need of continuous supply of heat from solar energy. For the refrigeration or cooling cycle, the problems of absorption and crystallization of solution may limits the system performance. However, I think that the technology is still undeveloped
