The multicrystalline wafers for solar cell production are characterized by:
- Thickness , the thickness must be thick enough to absorb the sun radiation.
This is in the range of 200-250 um.
- The thickness tolerance must be also given
- The grain size must be as large as possible to reduce the grain boundary effects.
It is measured by the average number grains per cm^2.
- The doping in bulk of the grain must be optimum around 10^17/cm^2
- The resistivity of the material using 4 point probes
- The minority carrier lifetime
