Adductor longus tear is rarely seen entity in Orthopaedic practice. Majority of the times conservative treatment is opted. What are the indications in which surgical intervention is preferred
An MRI confirmation of ALT rupture would suggest surgery. Prior to elective imaging, however, initial indications of pain with tenderness, bruising, and muscle weakness would be similar to a Grade 2 partial tear. The Grade 3 complete tear, however, would present with extensive or complete loss of muscle strength and ROM, with some noting a clicking or snapping sound when the ALT is ruptured--an indication for surgery with MRI confirmation.
