A few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the updated version of the Russian strategy, which coincides with the intensification of the war with Ukraine and hostility with the West, especially the United States of America, and the strengthening of relations with China. What, in your opinion, are the implications of this new strategy regionally and globally?
The Russo-Ukraine war is nothing but a manifestation of Cold War 2.0. A slugfest and waging of strategic competition that aims to weaponise all elements of national power. The US strategy was to entice Russia and engage it in a Ukrainian marshland for a prolonged conflict; the Russian strategy has been to hit at the root of capitalism. The unipolar world is gravitating to a bipolar contest with Russia and China realigning their interests. The contest for IPR by China over new technology will see more technology-related sanctions by the West. Technology is the new tool for wealth development and aggregation. Cornered China and Russia will team up to fight Western dominance. While the West would like to avoid direct confrontations, the Russians and Chinese would seek the same by enabling better situational awareness and enabling deterrence disappearance. Cold War 2.0 will be used to trigger another arms race, and the world will brace with strategic instability due to engineered endless conflicts.
