COVID-19 brought closure of educational institutions and lockdown. The teachers started online teaching. However, there are students that lack the required resources, internet and other devices. How such students are affected by this lockdown?
It impacted so much in educational system especially in developing countries, However, human are bound to adapt in any situations or else we will be left behind so with the education system. In the Philippines, blended learning approach; using radio to reach the edges of the poor communities having no internet signals and even electricity, TV to reach students who visuals and auditory learners, modules, and online classes) will be using to mitigate the lacking resources of the students and limited internet speed in the country. But, we need to scrape the bottom of the barrel for education in spite we are facing the pandemic. Learning must not stop.
Teaching and learning are life long processes. They never stop. In the era of pandemic Covid-19 and lock down, so many things are badly affected including Education which is the worst affected area. E- learning is being started. Its like something is better than nothing. Amidst lock down this is the only way of teaching and learning. Reality is that it does not reach more than fifty percent students who are at remote areas, where there is no internet facility. But things should go on. Every effort is being made to arrange community teachers in respective areas with small groups of students following guide lines. Audio programmes do help these students to some extent. But there is need to improve the situation.
It was a good experience. Meanwhile, it was a have-to-do job. I did online teaching during the pandemic, and the feedback I got from students and college was okay but not as good as if it was face-to-face teaching. Nevertheless, we can say that online teaching can be a good substitute when necessity, such as this pandemic, comes up.
The good thing is that education did not stop during the pandemic period when all means were used from the Internet, television and audio recordings even if e-learning does not represent 50% of real education in the classes, but according to my observations in developing countries the biggest problem is the awareness of students and their sense of responsibility where we found most University students do not have sufficient awareness to rely on e-learning as well as parents for school students in the small age groups Everyone knows that e-learning is new to everyone even the developed countries, which have gone a long way in e-learning, but not all are ready to rely entirely on e-learning. In general, the experience is developing greatly today, and it depends on teachers, students, parents, and society culture in full, and I expect an evolution in e-learning during the coming period.
For next academic year, more likely there will be a mix of online-only and hybrid teaching methods.
The hybrid approach includes both online and face-to face to different ratios for the delivery of contents.
However, if things get really bad because of Covid-19 health crisis, then faculty and students can switch completely to the online-only method of delivery.
Best regards

Gentle researchers I share a little pre-print technical report about the possible evolution of post COVID19 school. I hope this is useful for this topic. Have a nice week. --sv--
Technical Report Post-COVID19 pandemic school ecosystem: AR/VR classrooms as ...
Dear Fayyaz Ahmad Faize, how nice to be able to talk about this issue. It is a very important issue as it was said by Iris April L Ramirez, Salvatore Vicidomini, Oluwatuyi Shegun Victor, Sujan Mahapatra, Alaba Tolulope Agbele, Mazin A. M. Al Janabi, Ingrid Del Valle García Carreño, Omar Al-ani, Dr-Ahmed M. Al-Baidhani د. احمد البيضاني, Itishree Padhi, Jesryl Paulite, social and economic inequality was evident with the problem of the pandemic of COVID-19. It has always existed but now it has been made explicit for those who did not see it. Unfortunately we have students who are unable to access, and we have tried to diversify resources. The same content that was covered in a video, is also produced in an audio resource only, as the connection of some students prevents them from watching the video, but they are able to access the audio files. But digital learning scripts are also produced to guide students. In some situations, paper material is printed for delivery to students. However, the important thing is not only the delivery of the contents, more important is the contact and interaction, in some way being able to welcome and give attention, so that students know that teachers care about them. But even with these efforts, some are unable to do so because they need food first. The situation is very sad, but we believe that even in these conditions, education can still help to improve the condition of these people.
Students with poor resources suffer badly in online learning when internet capacities are low and slow, and when there are current failures, or poor technological support and services. Institutions with poor resources, as well, cannot ensure the quality of learning and cannot control cheating and test compromise. These make critical challenges to the educational system as a whole.
Without resources, participation in any form of e-learning is severely hampered. My heart are with financially struggling students as I was once in their shoes.
Many students are badly affected due to lack of resources especially in developing countries where there is poor network system. When electricity is yet to reach more than 40 % people, what about E- learning?? Children mostly from rural areas are not accessible through on line. There is no alternative to reach them during this pandemic situation and lock down. It is indeed a big challenge till normal restoration of life.
Dear Fayyaz, Certainly, education is directly affected by the closure of educational institutions, especially primary and secondary schools and even kindergartens, because it is known that education is not just a lecture (lesson), but rather it is the acquisition of experiences from the teacher and colleagues and the experience of life for children and even university students, and whatever educational institutions have developed in e-learning It gives less results than direct education, and with all the associated problems, it is the best solution at a time of the outbreak of the pandemic, and to disseminate as much information as possible, means of education can be used that do not require an Internet or complex devices, so it is possible to record and publish video lectures on local television for any region. For students to be able to keep up with the world as much as possible in e-learning.
