I think it is a good discussion Fayyaz Ahmad Faize and the exceptional nature of the situation requires us to rethink the evaluation. If online teaching activities are different from face-to-face activities, why continue to use the same assessment tools and methods? Why not take the time to focus on the process and not just one test? I think that at this moment the diversification of learning assessment instruments would be important in order not to pressure and increase students' anxiety . But also assessing teaching and teacher, would be important in the context of online teaching.

I think the assessment must be instantaneous i. e it should be activity based in the form of presentation, viva etc. Sending digital information is opening door for only copying and manipulating the already available information. SO its better that the instructor can evaluate in real time instead on demand.

Abu Bashar I agree with you that real time evaluation shall be done in online classes.... But How you ensure students' participation? When you ask question, the students are mute and don't respond.....

When you call them by name to answer, they still don't respond and would later send you a message that they have connectivity issues at that time....

Agnaldo Arroio suggest different evaluation methods because online instruction is different... this is very true.. so what are those different techniques of assessment keeping into consideration the problems raised earlier in this post.

The evaluation of students' performance in online learning is truly difficult. The following deeds could be done to evaluate them-

# Assignment or term paper making

# Short slide presentation

# Viva voce etc.

Understand your practical interest but I quite agree with Agnaldo Arroio: maybe peliminary questions should be:

- which kind of educational process do you wish to delivered? transmissive or more advanced once?

- which are their goal? the transmission of knowledge, the acquisition of abilities or the development of skills/competences?

The approaches to evaluation change completely also because you move from pedominantly deterministic to evolutive/organic processes.

Finally you may ask if you wish to foster in the students the development of competences in self-evaluation, self-regulation and in meta-design.

Online learning during COVID-19 lockdown is truly difficult than face to face learning.

1.Students are unable to understand the practical subjects that are being tested in the laboratory.

2.Students who live in rural areas or who do not have a smartphone are unable to attend online classes.

3.Occasionally there are mechanical errors during online classes.

However, in spite of many obstacles, we are learning from home.

Google Classroom, Socrative are excellent tools to evaluate students' performance in online teaching and learning

I think it's depending a lot on the type of learning. In some situations it could be impossible, since we could not be sure that the student is working by himself.

I think individual interview is the most efficient way to assess students online

Quiz session in between the sessions as well as poll of what they think about the topic being discussed would increase their level of interest towards online classes and make it interesting and as well as u can evaluate them

I believe through conceptual questions that require students to use their higher-order thinking skills as well as research-based assignments

Well, I think it is so difficult to evaluate students' performance in online learning during lockdown, it is better to make them attend to schools and do written exams for a while i.e. at least once or twice a month.
