Redesigning supply chains in order to develop a circular economy may be correlated with the ongoing processes of shortening international, including intermodal supply chains, taking place under the influence of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic situations of disrupting these mainly international supply chains. In a circular economy, supply logistics chains should be as short as possible to reduce transport costs. There should be a return to the concept of self-sustaining cities known from centuries ago. The issue of self-sufficiency of urban agglomerations should apply to energy, food products and other types of products and services. The energy sector should be based on renewable energy sources, transport should be based on electromobility, waste management should take into account well-developed recycling and efficient waste sorting systems, etc. Logistic chains should be as short as possible and only few, some could extend beyond the area of ​​the municipal agglomeration commune.
