I would like to know the views of prominent professionals in the field of Organization Behavior especially in relation to the current challenges faced by corporations across different geographic areas.
OB is often neglected subject in public sector organizations. Although the administration of employees is governed by rules and regulations in the public sector, the inspiring behaviour and human centered behaviour is often neglected. Discipline in the organization is eroding. Trade Unions influence in decision making in increasing. Politics plays a greater role in the personnel and OB related issues. I do feel that OB is more infulencial in private sector organization, multinational organizations, where the talent are regarded, productivity is a matter of concern, profitability is the major goal and so on.
While this is not a direct answer to your question, you might have a look at an empirical study, In the eye of the beholder: Cross-cultural lessons in Project GLOBE. This 10 year study involved 17,000 managers and 62 cultures worldwide. This worldwide study of culture and leadership assessed leadership challenges arising from the different cultural attributes exhibited by employees around the world. Essentially, the study questions how managers can continue to lead effectively in light of the challenges posed by varying cultural differences exhibited in employee behaviours. It looks at specifically at employee attributes, and the leadership traits needed to effectively manage these attributes. It does a good job of illustrating the behavioural challenges faced by global managers.
