if you if you want assess quality for nonrandomized studies, you can use The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS)

The quality of an article is determined on the basis of its contribution to the area or field of the research concerned. Often, the judgement may be relative and vary person to person. But the expert and the experienced people can judge the quality of the articles in a uniform way. You may refer the editorial and quality policy of reputed journals to know how they define and estimate the quality of the articles.
Good published articles:
-Relevance in the field
-Applicability in real life situations (utility)
-Standard technicalities: instrument, data, analysis, methodology, etc.
-Accessibility (language & terms used)
-Availability (online, print, free access, etc.)
