I am doing an experiment to test the bacterial adhesion to a hydrophobic surface using AFM. I wonder if it is available to recommend control materials/surfaces (one of them can be used as positive control and the another as negative control (i.e. induce and prevent bacteria adhesion).

considering metallic substrate, silver can be considered as toxic towards bacteria; on the contrary carbon steels does not inhibit their presence and proliferation and are subjected to different corrosion deterioration mechanisms, including microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) which results from accelerated deterioration caused by different microbial activities….

Dear Diana Raie,
as far as I undertand your question, you are searching for reference materials with more hydrophilic resp. more hydrophobic surface properties (here I miss the characteristics of your surface), esp. for AFM measures. What about simply using Si-wafers, Mica-discs and polymer (compare contact angles for suitable ones) surfaces as a starting point.
