The greater emergence of authoritarianism in politics and society?
Authoritarian religions will gain greater political power?
The influence of the US will substantially decline?
America is substantially weakened?
A dark or darker age will descend overseeing the end of liberal values?
The market-oriented model of society (citizen, voter, client) will be abolished; the Asian model of production will rule, i.e serfdom.
Yes, Stephen.
I hope you recall my medievalism track. I have almost finished my piece on Putin, at least the first part.
Stephen,
Anyway, by doing this America has thrown in the towel and broadcasted the country´s decline.
My concern is the people now in American politics. While there has always been inappropriate types in American politics, the ones there now, like Vivek, are appalling. Lying like the best! Still, there is a noticeable decline in the politicians in the West. While the Russian ones are criminals, the Western ones are flaky or secretly involved with Russia.
America did not decide to stop funding Ukraine, the divergent interests of the Republicans and Democrats are behind the impasse in delivering the sought-after weapons to Ukraine.
Furthermore, America's inability to provide the weapons Ukraine demands urgently will have both negative and positive effects globally. First, America's international image will decline to an extent and of course with the concomitant consequence of emboldening Russia and its allies. Consequently, some of her (US) allies may shift grounds tactically in future dealings.
On the positive side, it is a known fact that there was an arrangement to end the conflict/war at the early stages which was torpedoed by the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at the instance of the US. Therefore, given the horrendous casualties on both sides of the conflict/war, we may see an agreement shortly to end the unnecessary war though to a large extent to the detriment of Ukraine.
Onyebuchi,
What agreement existed to end the conflict in its early stages?
It was a secret till recently. Many news media carried the release of testimonies of some who were part of the peace process to resolve the war. The denominator in all of it is that Boris Johnson (Former UK Prime Minister) nudged Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ditch the agreement and fight on due to some reasons such as Putin not being trustworthy as well as not as strong as feared.
Omyebuchi
Lost on this. This is an agreement no one knows about, although some do but are not saying. You too are not saying, just telling us it that it exists. The only agreement I remember was 'surrender'.
The notion that Putin has never kept his word is surely accurate and that he would cause numerous Bucha if the Ukrainians had surrendered. The army clearly had instructions to eradicate parts of the population shown by several incidents in the first months of the war. It was limited only by the Russian army's failure and Ukraine's early reconquests. The Ukrainians were fully aware of what would happen to them if they did not fight back, the same as what occurred to Chechnya. Mariupol was just the beginning!
So what was this settlement?
Was there not an agreement in 2014?
Or haven't you heard sources close to Zelensky say that an agreement was almost ready before the surprise visit of Johnson? If you haven't, you can research, it is readily available and accessible on the net.
Just as in 2014, the agreement would have been to an extent Ukraine compromising more as it was in a disadvantaged position.
Who in international politics cum relations has ever kept their word? Was it not also revealed that Germany and France (of course with allies) supported the 2014 agreement with the sole intention to massively arm Ukraine for the hostilities to resume again?
Johnson was not available in 2014. He was probably still an article writer or even at university. Are you making all this up?

Abstract:
President Vladimir Putin escalated Russia's war on Ukraine in September 2022, announcing a partial mobilisation and repeating his threat to use nuclear weapons. But what really ended efforts to bring about peace - which had continued since the 24 February invasion - was the proclaimed annexation of the Ukrainian oblasts of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Cherson. Since his election in 2019, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly called on Putin to agree to a personal meeting, even in the first weeks of this year's Russian invasion. But on 4 October 2022, in response to the actions of the Russian side, he signed a decree rejecting direct talks. Ever since the beginning of the Russian aggression in 2014, and all the more so since 24 February 2022, the course of Ukrainian-Russian negotiations has been highly dependent on the situation in the battlefield and the broader political context.
House of Trump, House of Putin-by Craig Unger
Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia
The grandson of Molotov on Trump receiving the presidency crowed:
'Dear friends, trusted colleagues, three minutes ago Donald Trump became president of the USA. I thank all of you gathered here. A job well done. '
Of course, I was not talking about the 2014 agreement. I was just using 2014 as a reference and in support of the realist school that there is no morality in international politics vis-a-vis state actors keeping their words as the media often use it for only Putin.
You asked if I made up all I have been saying. It is uneasy for me to be typing this. Does it mean that up till now, you haven't seen the expositions that there was an agreement to end the hostilities around April 2022 before Boris Johnson's unannounced visit to Kyiv?
Phil,
Why not? Honestly I cannot see the merit of your contribution except to attack me. Anyway, my name is Wilkin not your multiplication.
To reply more effectively. I have little time for Trump but when he emerged Dracula like into the light I thought his approach to wars was interesting even though his position was a business one. Stopping America falling headlong into conflicts and attempting better approaches seemed healthy as clearly the other approaches had caused immense negative after effects. None good.
I certainly believe that Trump and Putin share personality or psychological factors and that is looking on the world as a means of making money, inability to tell the truth and egotism on a cartoon like level. That they are colluding is a strong possibility as again they share a pragmatic, greed based ambition or set of ambitions. Anyway fascism whether controlled or full on is not to my taste.
All the best!
Phil, these questions are about discussion and that is what academia is about. You appear to take the stance that if a discussion is not what you like or veers away from your grasp it must be despoiled. At least this time you are not swearing. You could simply offer arguments against a position.

Michael Johnson has called for Ukraine to provide a strategy indicating either stupidity or a deliberate obfuscation to prevent further US involvement. Strategies in war are difficult to provide as war is not a business and are dependent on many variables. The only permissible strategy is to win.
Is Johnson waiting for the election and Trump to win or has he received funds from one of the combatants?
This is not a discussion - it's a posturing Stanley posting to himself.
Right - a strategy is stupid.
Pay attention Stanley - aid to Ukraine nominally is contingent on agreement re. immigration and 2) war time focus that does not include US covering retirement of Ukraine civil servants.
Win? Doubtful.
NATO support is just US and US has privately walked away from win - both in positioning and its failure to provide air support in last Spring's failed offesnive.iarhttps://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/12/27/biden-endgame-ukraine-00133211

To: Phil Geis "...just throw money and equipment into a black hole..." Are you really American? Or are you a microbiologist working with the virus of Russian propaganda and it struck you? I am Ukrainian. And I am shocked by this phrase. Check out these stats - Ukrainians patiently destroy the aggressor (the Russian army, which the USA feared for more than half a century) for 2 years. During this time - On the Ukrainian-Russian front line (over 1,500 km), the Ukrainians destroyed: 1) more than 356,000 experienced Russian soldiers and officers, 2) 329 military aircraft and 324 helicopters, 3) 5,940 tanks, 4) 11,015 armored infantry vehicles, 5) 8,391 powerful artillery units, 6) 617 powerful air defense complexes (air defense), 7) 935 salvo artillery systems (Grad type), 8) 23 naval ships and boats (including the flagship of the Russian fleet "Moscow" and 1 submarine, 9) 6,503 unmanned aerial vehicles. Do you think that the Ukrainians did it with stones and sticks? In most cases, these were weapons provided by the American people for our self-defense. Do you not understand that the idea of "stealing weapons in Ukraine" is a Russian narrative? Due to the promotion of this opinion, our Ukrainian soldiers are dying en masse due to lack of weapons and ammunition. I will tell you one unpleasant moment. Russia together with the USA in 1992 after the collapse of the USSR deceived Ukraine. (the "Budapest Memorandum" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum ) - Until Ukraine gave up the Soviet nuclear weapons stationed on its soil, it had the world's third-largest nuclear weapons stockpile... It was the protection of Ukraine from ANY aggressor, which Ukraine voluntarily gave to Russia, believing the assurances of the USA and Russia. After Putin came to power in Russia have Ukrainians realized what a mistake they made. In NATO, Ukraine just wanted to get protection from Putin's aggressive Russia! Today, Russia is shelling Ukraine with Ukrainian missiles from Ukrainian planes, which were transferred to it by Ukraine in 1992-1995 under the Budapest Memorandum under US guarantees! If Ukraine had not made this mistake, Ukrainian missiles from Ukrainian planes would be flying to Moscow today. But (most likely) there simply would not have been this aggressive attack by Russia. In today's world, the ONLY guarantee of non-attack on a country is nuclear weapons! Russia proved it! Therefore, do not be surprised that most countries (looking at Ukraine's mistake) will now seek to have nuclear weapons and will not believe the USA. You think about it! Every day of the delay in the supply of weapons to Ukraine is a confirmation of the Russian narrative - "the USA cannot be trusted!" Then tell me who are the Republicans (MAGA) working for? I don't understand, how can want to "Make America Great Again" by undermining trust in it from other countries and peoples? An interesting method...

Vladyslav Honcharenko I have dealt with Phil Geis many times in the past and he seems a particularly vicious follower of Trump and worse Putin. One consolation is that he seems to have stopped swearing on this site, which he did before with every sentence. We labelled him cowpat man for his use of bullshit, and his reason for being on RG seems to express Trumpian ideals and anti-Ukrainian propaganda based on the Republican agenda of Michael Johnson..
You are wise to question his affiliations as before he appeared in tandem with Russian trolls, made no constructive or informed comments but merely, as Trolls do, acted destructively preventing the development of other opinions. The only way to deal with someone of such deliberately obstructive intentions is to ignore him.
I know such "characters" well and try to fight them as best I can. They all probably have the same instructions from the Russian propaganda cartel (the same methods and narratives).
Vladyslav,
I mean who comes onto an academic site and starts swearing? A non academic?
Yes, he's a troll so should you waste your energies?
I think that it is worth fighting with trolls. Because such characters not only troll, but also push Russian propaganda here. And it is read by people from other countries who may be less familiar with the intricacies and methods of Russian NLP zombification than we are. You can see how I fought with one such person (Jamel Chahed) here - https://www.researchgate.net/post/Russia_and_Ukraine_are_two_BROTHER_republics_of_the_USSR_What_are_they_now_and_what_will_happen_to_them_in_the_future/290
Vladyslav,
I fought then for two years. It became exhausting. But I have seen little of them recently. Yes, I identified Jamel Charad as a troll but a lot of people denied it. I was part of that question too, fighting against them, fighting the worst amongst them such as Sergey.
The UN knows how to present its plans as facts (using the example of Ukraine) - https://www.unocha.org/news/no-let-war-affected-ukrainians-un-launches-humanitarian-and-refugee-plans-respond-2024
Stanley - please read something other than your own whining posts that tell us your brave fight that has you so tired. Perhaps your brave fight might be better invested in Ukraine rather than Researchgate.
You clearly know nothing of the US system or dynamics about which you complain. The Speaker of the US house neither authorizes not blocks - he brings to the floor. The House funds the government and both House and Senate GOP are holding Ukraine, Israel funding pending resolution of the US border crisis that the country has prioritized. This is a much greater immediate risk to the US than Ukraine.
Asking for strategy after the failed Spring offensive and unaccounted investment of money and materiel (https://apnews.com/article/ukraine-weapons-audit-watchdog-us-congress-biden-9abecd14528b9551ff4ddb6786ad7fda) is very reasonable, esp. as Biden, fearful of Russia and in election mode, will not offer air cover and sufficient materiel to win. Your response is BS so typical. Worse, Americans are losing faith in the Ukraine effort (https://news.gallup.com/poll/513680/american-views-ukraine-war-charts.aspx) no doubt compelling Biden to whisper negotiations.
Strategy is a secondary priority that begs resolution of the primary issue - immigration at the southern US border.
Vladyslav,
Going back to my original assertions, which brought or brings the rats out of their holes, is Michael Johnson being directed by Trump to stall Ukrainian funding until the election, or is he in Putin's pocket. Recently a top German entrepreneur, running an internet company (Wildcard or something similar), was found to be a Russian/Putin agent. There had been a constant rumour that Putin funded young Western business men, giving sufficient funds for start-ups. This gentleman seems to have been one.
Johnson's assertions about producing a Ukrainian strategy for the war is both stupid and a red herring. Its for others to repeat as if it was a genuine reason for withholding funds. In war strategies evolve and Ukraine's is involved with receiving American weapons. F16s create a part of a future strategy. Once Ukraine has these, its strategies change.
But Johnson's assertion is beyond stupidity, and since he apparently does nothing until he hears from god, offensive to god. A war strategy is to win. Further strategies involve how that is done. Defence can be a way of winning.
Vladyslav Honcharenko
Dismiss criticism as trolling? Suppose ad hominem is so much easier than responding to the points raised.
And thanks for the UN humor! Took 2 years of war before UN announced "plans" for refugees for which they beg funds. No intervention, no support, nothing and finally a yet unfunded plan. Right - they sure announce well. I see why you are so pleased.
To: Phil Geis How about answering my question? - "...Every day of the delay in the supply of weapons to Ukraine is a confirmation of the Russian narrative - "the USA cannot be trusted!" Then tell me who are the Republicans (MAGA) working for? I don't understand, how can want to "Make America Great Again" by undermining trust in it from other countries and peoples? An interesting method..." The Russians say "the USA cannot be trusted, because they CAN deceive." After the non-provision of weapons to Ukraine and the undermining of its defense capabilities, the whole world will talk about the USA - "the USA cannot be trusted, because they will DEFINITELY deceive." So in whose interests does the MAGA work?
Vladyslav Honcharenko
Do you take ignorance and ad hominem lessons from Stanley? Whining about "MAGA" is both, and Ukraine funding has nothing to do with it.
The President is Biden, not Trump, and the GOP is responding to the national concern for the border, holding Ukraine AND Israel funding until it is resolved. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/poll-americans-increasingly-see-border-as-crisis-call-for-tougher-measures/ar-AA1mAnfv
Trust the US? The US has been by far the primary source of Ukraine funding, esp. military funding - https://www.statista.com/statistics/1303432/total-bilateral-aid-to-ukraine/. EU has done little and European countries effectively nothing. Ukraine's failed Spring offensive hardly encourages, and Biden (the President, member?) is clearly too afraid of Russia to provide military aid that would support victory.
AGAIN - Ukraine is losing support in the US and funding from any source is at risk. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/12/13/russia-ukraine-war-west-funding-00131638
Phil, you want him instead to be as ignorant as you, Mr Cowpat man.
While the borders have nothing to do with Ukraine but are being employed as a ruse to avoid payments, the weaponry given to Ukraine by the US is from stockpiles, and the evidence does not support the growing lack of interest in Ukraine within the USA. Most, far more intelligent than you, you persistent troll, realise the importance of Ukraine's defence not just for eastern Europe but for the values that yes US is meant to represent as well. Certainly against the criminal gang in Moscow.
Think, Phil (am i asking too much?) at how well the Bradleys have worked in this war and thereby how many countries will put in orders, and all the other successful USA weapons, how many factories will be set up, how they will reward the USA. Never mind, the limitations of your intelligence is obvious and even if Michael Johnson succeeds think of the long term effects of this will be on American reputation, on future generations should they collapse before barbarians and embrace isolationism. The expression 'cowardly Americans' is already part of the vocabulary, no character, no courage.
But Phil that's only true about cowpat Americans, leaving their mess in the fields, backing up a serial killer, Putin. How will Michael Johnson be remembered by those capable of judging such things-a traitor perhaps as Trump came very close to being? Will you be remembered, Mr Cowpat Man, simply as a traitor too and a troll, your hands stuck in Putin's back pockets?
Phil, why don't you answer my direct question? - "how can want to "Make America Great Again" by undermining trust in it from other countries and peoples? Who benefits from this?"
Vladyslav
Look at this. Michael Johnson is the same sort. I hear Mr Cowpat Man goes back through Putin's fields searching for dollars.

If you could find an English speaker to translate your "question" into intelligible English, I'd try. But please - your childish appeal to "trust'' is amusing. The current admin quietly abandoned its citizens and embassy in Afghanistan to the tender mercies of the Taliban - and you "trust"? US support for Ukraine is based on US interests - no other reason. If US - the only nation to effectively support Ukraine - is not to be trusted, suggest you sue for peace now. Pay attention, Ukraine is a side issue to the legislative impasse - immigration is the point.
And we have Stanley with nothing but BS. As always, with nothing but ignorance to offer, he reverts to the cowardly and irrelevant ad hominem. You might note https://news.yahoo.com/ukraines-foreign-minister-trump-man-152900410.html
The USA owes Ukraine a debt, a commitment. According to the Budapest Memorandum ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum) , the USA acted as guarantors! Moreover, the USA, in agreement with Russia, they told Ukraine to transfer nuclear weapons (warheads, missiles, aircraft) to Russia in exchange for US guarantees. Now Russia is destroying the people of Ukraine with these weapons! And part of the republicans exchange the lives of Ukrainian soldiers for their political demands. It's disgusting and vile!
1) Ukrainians are sincerely grateful to the American people and the US government for the assistance provided to Ukraine and Ukrainians. Without this help, the state of Ukraine would have ceased to exist and Ukrainians would be an exile nation without their state. 2) The war has been going on for 2 years. During this time, the Ukrainians liberated 45% of the territory occupied by the Russians. Did the Ukrainians have a chance to free most of the territories seized by Russia during this time? All military experts say "yes". Why didn't this happen? Experts have one opinion - DIDN'T ENOUGH NECESSARY WEAPONS. Providing weapons to Ukraine (especially from the USA) is similar to the rescue in the mountains when they drop your food, water, and warm clothes from a helicopter so that you don't die, but they don't take you on board. That is, the help is not adequate to the situation. 3) Give Ukraine 150-170 F16 old aircraft (we are not asking for modern F35!) and old missiles for them with a range of 250-300 km (we are not asking for Tomahawks!) and the war will be over in 3 months in result by destroying the logistics of the Russian army. See how the Americans fought in Iraq! 4) Aid to Ukraine is not an expense. This is an investment! The USA supplies Ukraine with OLD weapons from its stockpiles. Instead, stocks are replenished with NEW weapons produced by AMERICAN firms (jobs, taxes, etc.). And imagine how much American companies will be able to earn from the reconstruction of Ukraine! 5) Why do some Americans think that only the USA supports Ukraine? Look here -https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/?cookieLevel=not-set Is 100 billion from USA TOO big for a war of this importance? Almost 900 billion dollars USA was spent to support Afghanistan. What were the US interests and threats there? Think about what could happen next if Russia takes over Ukraine? And if Putin does not stop at Ukraine and attacks US partners in Europe. Don't you suppose so? And if this happens, is the US obligated to defend its NATO allies? Will American soldiers fight (and die) in this case? Will they not do this? Do you trust Putin because he's a "cool guy," as Trump says and Trump will be able to negotiate with him? And if not? Are you sure that in the background of Putin's victory (due to US indecision in Ukraine!) China is closely watching the behavior of the United States. If the USA shows weakness in Ukraine, China will invade Taiwan, North Korea will invade South Korea, and Iran will invade Israel. How many trillions of dollars will the United States have to spend then? Will the United States be ready for this, if some Americans think that 100 billion dollars for Ukraine is a very large amount? Will the USA say that this is a lot and we don't need to interfere? And what will be the trust in the USA on the part of all today's partners after that? In this way, the USA will lose world leadership and Putin will say that he defeated the USA (which will not be far from the truth). Will the Americans watch this silently? If "yes" then the USA finally will lose its world leadership. Dictatorships will defeat democracy. Will the world be a better place from this? The Ukrainian-Russian war is not just a war between two countries. This is a war between good and evil, between democracy and dictatorship, between order and chaos. And the whole world is watching how the USA behaves in this war and the future of the world depends on its results.
@Vladyslav
Are you aware of the annexation of Crimea? Guarantors of what? I'm familiar with the general elements of Budapest Memorandum but am not aware of specifics - regarding that subject. Perhaps you can share the text and when Russia used nuclear weapons in the current conflict?
Be aware, I do think US should fund Ukraine. But with Biden's reticence to supply to win and the failed last spring offensive, do not see victory can be assumed failing some compelling strategy.
But make no mistake - it is certainly inspiring to see such brave warriors for Ukraine sacrificing themselves and risking so much on the researchgate battlefield.
Phil, I sincerely am appalled by a man on your level referencing me as ignorant. This is not what these sites are for, idiots like you arriving to display the shallow level of both intelligence and knowledge. I see you are back to your BS best. Do not change the efforts of a lifetime and somehow acquire thinking capacity and culture.
To: Phil Geis My English is really not perfect. But did you not understand my question? Do you simply have nothing to answer? I will help you. Making America Great Again (MAGA) is IMPOSSIBLE if the world stops trusting the USA. Isn't it? MAGA undermines this trust. And the world watches and concludes. In fact, the MAGA is now helping Russia to destroy the Ukrainian army, which protects the Ukrainian people. Isn't it?
To: Phil Geis ( "...Perhaps you can share the text..." )- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum
"...2) Refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of the signatories to the memorandum, and undertake that none of their weapons will ever be used against these countries, except in cases of self-defense or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations..."
Vladyslav,
Well put. They are destroying America not re-establishing it. But maybe their idea of greatness is subservience to Trump and Putin and business without conscience and without concern for the future.

The issue of traitorous nature or possible traitorous nature of members of the American executive is tied up with Michael Johnson's present actions as well as the interference of right wing groups in the performance of governance. This of course involves Michael Johnson and Trump. While it is unlikely that Americans have the stomach to explore the actions of the two above they should.

COMMENTARYMike Johnson is not a "culture warrior" — he's an enemy of democracy Throughout his career, new House Speaker Mike Johnson has displayed a troubling committement to minority rule By CHAUNCEY DEVEGA
To : Phil Geis. As for the "unsuccessful offensive of the Ukrainians". It is not true that he was "unsuccessful". 1) Ukrainians are fighting one of the most powerful armies in the world! How many days did your analytics give Ukraine after the Russia's attacks - 2 weeks? We have been fighting for 2 years! How many countries could fight with Russia for so long?
2) During the 2 years of the war, Ukraine was able to return almost half of the territories captured by Russia. You can see the real military map here -https://deepstatemap.live/#7/49.429/32.080. (In green it marks the territories that the Ukrainians have already liberated from the Russians in 2 years since their insidious large-scale attack)
3) Any military man will tell you that the main task in war is not to return territories, but to destroy the MILITARY POTENTIAL of the enemy. If you destroy the potential, the territories will return by themselves. I wrote above about the military potential of Russia destroyed by the Ukrainians.
4) The "failure" of the Ukrainian summer offensive was a consequence of the insufficient provision of weapons (including from the USA). According to all modern military strategies, the offensive should begin with a massive aerial bombardment of the enemy. Did the Americans give us at least 100 old F-16s? No! Did the Americans give us Tomahawk missiles? No! Can they give a million shells? No! Where did the success of the Ukrainian offensive come from? Didn't think about it? Do not forget that we are fighting an army that Americans have been afraid of for half a century! And we successfully destroy of russian monster, giving our lives. Americans pay for a safe world with money, and Ukrainians with blood.
Vladyslav,
These criticisms have come mainly from American sources influenced by Russian propaganda, even outrageous statements from Putin that Ukraine is failing, Against indeed the evidence. These broadcasters and writers appear not to realise that they are repeating Russian or Putin resources. Had the Ukrainians received armaments appropriately they probably would have pushed Russia out of Kerson oblast at least.
Again and again Ukrainian efforts have been considered through territory retrieved, the obsession of journalists and RT and Russian backers. Ukraine appears to have focused on the degradation of the Russian army and of Russian lines of communication, with great success.
Ukraine military operations can be considered as frontline, which involves the degradation of the Russian army. The logistics immediately behind the frontline, including the killing of commanders. In depth operations, attacks on operation sites in occupied territory and within Russia, And lastly for now, the Russian Black Sea fleet. All these areas of operation have had enormous success.
Only human resources of Russia has prevented the failure of Russia.

I swear to conscientiously study military science, to take every possible care of military and national property and to be loyal to my People, my Soviet Motherland and the Soviet Government to the last breath.
I am always ready, on the order of the Soviet Government, to defend my Motherland, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and, as a soldier of the Armed Forces, I swear to defend it courageously, skilfully, with dignity and honour, without sparing my blood and my very life in order to achieve complete victory over the enemies.

"most powerful " - not even close. Tho' acquitted itself well vs an invading army much superior in numbers, but poor in motivation leadership and equipment. Reminds of the Finns Winter War.
Politically, you had to go on offensive. Frontal assault vs. a dug in army with defenses in depth, with no Inchon landing, no parachute army, no air support - it failed. Excuses are useless - of course Biden withheld critical elements. Like Obama, he is a coward - you saw this in Afghanistan, he fears Russia, Iran anyone.
With conscription patrols, you're now drafting men in their 40's, sent to front lines ill trained and exhausted for extended period at front. https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/19/europe/ukraine-difficulties-in-military-recruitment-intl/index.html
'In a recent essay, Ukraine’s top military commander, Valery Zaluzhny acknowledged that training and recruiting troops was becoming a serious challenge.
“The prolonged nature of the war, limited opportunities for the rotation of soldiers on the line of contact, gaps in legislation that seem to legally evade mobilization, significantly reduce the motivation of citizens to serve with the military,” he said.'
What strategy says victory? Biden whispers negotiate. Agree you need funding - the world wants Russia into negotiations - that may only stop them for now.
Perhaps a question - why are you not at the front?
To: Phil Geis. I noticed an interesting pattern. Almost all "scientists" in RG who love Russia are microbiologists. In this regard, I wrote the following to another "microbiologist" - "...Why manipulate so rudely? Read the instructions CAREFULLY and follow them carefully. Otherwise, you risk not getting the next money for your posts. It is necessary to work better! ... This is a classic of Russian propaganda - If there are no facts, and no one believes the empty words - you must start hysteria and accuse the opponent of inadequacy. Don't throw tantrums here. Give me a LINK to the garbage you wrote here..." I'm not writing to you like that yet. But I asked you 2 simple questions. You avoid a direct answer. Why? Instead of a simple answer to a simple question, you are interested in why I am not at the front. And who told you that I am not at the front? Russia's only high-precision weapon is Russian propaganda, which destroys the brain of everyone, even those who do not have it. I am fighting Russian propaganda on the information front. Ukrainians are very rational. Everyone does what they do best. I am waiting for an answer to the 2 questions posed. Sincerely (for now), Vladyslav
Vladyslav Honcharenko
The best you can offer is an ad hominem? I assume you accept the other points.
Again, why are you not at the front? Are you registered for the draft?
Motivated only to post on researchgate? Quite the elitist hero and patriot. Let the other risk their lives, I shall - argue and posture on an irrelevant platform. Perhaps you might show up long enough for a Red Badge of Courage.
Phil Geis. This is a classic method of Russian propaganda - If there are no facts, and no one believed the empty words or it is uncomfortable to answer simple questions - you must start hysteria and accuse the opponent. Why manipulate so rudely? Read the instructions CAREFULLY and follow them carefully. Otherwise, you risk not getting the next money for your posts. It is necessary to work better! I asked you 2 simple questions. You avoid a direct answer. Why? You seem to have said that you support Ukraine. Is not it? I invite you to come to Ukraine. And I will take you to the front to my students so you can see what war is.And only then you will be able to understand the uniqueness of Ukrainians.
Phil, if you're really an American, why do you behave like a Russian (I mean brashness and boorishness)?
.
Vladyslav Honcharenko the brave warrior doing what he safely does best
Here is what I understand
US is no guarantor, it is your chief backer with little (yet) from the rest of the world
The Spring offensive failed
Peer Ukr. top military commander - training and recruiting troops is become a serious challenge (NOT that this should affect YOU - doing sadely what you do best!)
In light of the above, the attrition strategy is concerning
Your responses have devolved to only ad hominem.
Phil Geis. Phil, if you're really an American, why do you behave like a Russian (I mean brashness and boorishness)? This is a classic method of Russian propaganda - If there are no facts, and no one believed the empty words or it is uncomfortable to answer simple questions - you must start hysteria and accuse the opponent. Vladyslav,
If he's American. You are correct, his attitudes are more Russian than American. He reminds me of a Russian troll who questioned my identity and that of an Australian-----His attitudes are at least similar. Attack. Attack. The manipulation is not American. They do not behave that way, at least not normally.
But worse, he is incredibly stupid and that on an intellectual site is most offensive.
There was one point when he thought he'd got to me, and I realised I had heard all that before. Putting it on message to you but let's not take every Russian moron seriously.
Maybe a Russian troll hacked the account of a serious scientist. I think it is necessary to inform his faculty or university. Can't be an AMERICAN scientist such a jerk (my English is not enough, this word was suggested to me by the dictionary. Maybe it doesn't reflect what I wanted to say)
In another topic, one of our colleagues wrote - "Never argue with idiots. You will sink to their level, where they will crush you with their experience." To this, I replied - "It is right. But if idiots speak in the public sphere, one should not argue with them but you need to show everyone the speaker is an idiot " :)
Vlad,
I checked before and I think a businessman came up, but he can be contacted. I'll look and you look. Jerk is fine! Typical of Russians, I'm afraid. That's exactly how they behave-arrogant and boorish.
Vlad, I guess for me this is not what this site is, or should be, about. The fact that Russians believe their media and do not think for themselves is their responsibility not ours. Let them associate with morons.
Last year several Russians on here during Winter asked me how things were in Europe. It took me awhile to realise that according to their propaganda Europeans had no electricity and food, eating squirrels. These Russians, some claiming to be scientists, believed it as if Russia was the only country selling oil and gas. Exasperated, I pointed out to them they were meant to be learned and intelligent! What happened to the Russians?
Putin grew his power and money through embezzlement, encouraging his boss the Mayor of St Petersburg to join his schemes. The man was about to be charged when Putin arranged for a plane to take him to France. Is it Putin who changes good to bad? It surely serves his purposes.
Michael Johnson has said no to a border solution designed by members of his own party and there is a growing realisation that Johnson, who constantly repeats Russian propaganda, wants the deal for Ukraine to fail. Can he be voted out, given that he is pulling USA's reputation through the mud and is set to damage the West? The prospect is being raised. His hand in Putin's pocket? it seems so.
Vladyslav Honcharenko
Of course you and Stanley can hide behind ad hominem. I could well resort to the ad hominem of noting what appears to be cowardice in those choosing their own very safe way to" best serve" rather than what their country to clearly needs.
Stanley the ignorant - "his party" has many factions and Johnson has to obtain support of all elements of his slim majority to proceed. again ignorant Stnaley - the issue is not Ukraine it's immigration. Can he be voted out - any chance you could lean the US political system before offering your next bit of profound myopic ignorance?
Vladyslav,
I repeat, this site is for academics.
Vladyslav,
What is emerging again in the USA is the geopolitics of Kissinger, who was a friend and advisor of Putin as well as the USA. As I have said previously, this can be detected in Mearsheimer and Chomsky's positions. Although seen as realpolitik as about for example the nature of power, balance of power, and its preservation, realpolitik is a silly word for what is often the reconstruction of reality. Power is the key. So, in the USA, it does not matter what position is taken as long as power is gained. (Not for all of course.)
This morning, I listened to a Trump speech, ignored the style that is the baby talk, and focused where possible on the content. He starts by establishing that he is friends with both Putin and Zelensky, or that he knows them. This is an expression not just of his importance but of American power and the means by which both will create magic once brought to the table. Of course Zelensky and Putin know each other, that is certainly why Zelensky will not negotiate with Putin. On this occasion as on others, Trump is hiding behind his posturing his intention, if he regains power, to force a peace. Of course Europe will continue to back Ukraine, and the USA will be pushed to one side losing prestige as a result.
The point is under Trump and the intellectually challenged Johnson (an observation not an insult) realpolitik is the key, not ethical standards on any level. Doing the right thing for Ukraine and the world becomes doing the right thing for Trump and the Republican party as understood by Johnson. Keeping their power undiluted in the USA.
Chauvinist Medvedev believes in the future of Ukraine! How else can one interpret his words? (about the fact that Russia will continue to fight with Ukraine in 50 years!) Here he honestly admitted Russia's desire to destroy the state of Ukrainians. -https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/01/17/7437637/
Vladyslav,
I do not believe their rhetoric reflects the state of Russia, already experiencing degradation. These comments suggest the desperation of a grubby elite afraid for their fortunes and their lives.
Putin is less confident than he appears to be.
Somali mercenaries have been captured fighting for Russian money. If they have no choice but to turn towards the St. Peters and Moscow affluent Russians are they then found out? It is certainly remarkable how ordinary Russians perceive their leaders, very different to western citizenry, which is more realistic. Examples of sacral leadership, medieval in nature. The Russians are not, not Ukrainians. Totally different cultures, as hopefully you will discover at my lecture.
To all Russians and their supporters, read slowly and try to extrapolate this to your own behavior. "Great-power chauvinism is a certain kind of ideology and system of political views, which is based on the idea that one dominant (title) nation is more important than others in a multinational state. Great-power chauvinism is especially strongly manifested in states that used to be empires, and where the spirit of imperialism still lives. In simple words, this means that the big-power chauvinists believe that all the former colonies that were under the power of the empire still belong to them".
The United Kingdom gave up its colonies with relative ease and now most are giving up UK and Europe, establishing their own identities. Unfortunately, it tends to be within the political frontiers created by Europeans so there will be trouble ahead and of course Russian colonialism in Africa, the countries there absurdly view Russia as anti-colonialist when they still have dominance over Asian ethnic groups and are attempting to re-establish it over Ukraine, will prove dangerous in the future. Gullible it seems in their acceptance of Russian explanations for their genocidal actions. Russia supports dictators in Africa and of course is interested only in the different countries resources-although probably most European countries were.
I must counter my main argument above as UK's resistance to Kenyan independence was violent on both sides, Algerian independence was created through violence. Is the Near East a remnant of that period?
European nations are meeting in February and hopefully discussions to make a combined European force will begin and because of Orban´s, Hungarian leader, veto, that right will be removed and concentration will return to Ukraine. Unfortunately, if Trump gets back into office that really should and would signal the decline of the USA-perhaps the rise of Europe instead as a working unit.
NATO has hardly been a working unit and you have no idea - other than your ignorant bias - re. what Trump would do. Perhaps he would not have shown abject cowardice in Afghanistan that so tempted Putin to invade. In any case, European nations have not met their commitments in funding or their own defense, and their natural gas agreements with Russia complicate their actions.

‘We have some consensus’: Speaker Johnson, Sen. Schumer exit Biden meeting on Ukraine aid with optimism

To: Phil Geis "...patriots, your countrymen are dying on the battlefield..." It's true. "...you're... on researchgate...". It's true. "Are you perhaps too old to serve?.." It's true, too (but I'm not old for a war with Russian trolls on the information front and show everyone their lies). It is also true that you are a Russian agent (most likely a Russian), at the same time young and not very smart. How do I know? You yourself confirmed it above. I wrote this phrase
"To all Russians and their supporters, read slowly and try to extrapolate this to your own behavior". 1) You reacted to it, that is, you recognized yourself as being involved in these categories. 2) The phrase "...read slowly..." has the continuation "and move your lips" (which I did not write). Only a Russian could understand this phrase. And this phrase of mine offended you VERY much. That is why you decided to start your answer to me with it. So the hypothesis of Stanley Wilkin was right. Most likely, you are a Russian troll who hacked the account of a respected American scientist. Isn't it?
Vlad, we have to sort this out about this imposter. He is clearly not American.
He is equally clearly not an academic.
Vladyslav Honcharenko
How old are you "patriot"? This is about you, your courage and commitment - not your imagined nemesis.
Poor ignorant Stanley. When the facts don't fit, it's always the cowardly ad hominem. And "academic"? Of what significance is that group - other than one that includes a greater percentage of folks separated from reality and committed to dogma such as yourself.
Phil Geis. Don't burn, don't burn... Just carefully read the manual and instructions of your propagandist curators, because they won't pay you money for such blunders. What kind of money will you live on then? If you continue to make such mistakes and cast a shadow on the "Main Office", you will be sent to the Ukrainian-Russian front to die for Putin.

Sadly, thousands of Ukrainians will die because of Michael Johnson. These damn lunatic Christians. And of course Trump conniving with his dear friend Putin, the creepy little man in the Kremlin. This is so sad and tells us how rotten people can be, not just rotten. The explicit nature of Putin's evil, the lack of ethics of American religious types does not surprise me-
Vladyslav Honcharenko
Your country is undermanned at the front and you, the armchair patriot, feel you are doing your duty insulting people on researchgate.
Another academic elitist too important to be put at risk in service. Disgusting.
Ignorant Stanley - Johnson's primary duty is to America nor Ukraine - in fact he has no duty to Ukraine. Perhaps you might invest your passion in the Ukranian army. We know the cowardly Valdyslav will not.
But it should be done subtly and beautifully, and you do it roughly and clumsily. And your reaction to the photos of the university bombed by the Russians further proves that you are not a scientist (especially not an American scientist). CAREFULLY re-read your instructions and follow them carefully. Otherwise, you risk not getting the next money for your posts. It is necessary to work better! If you continue to make such mistakes and your clumsy work casts a shadow on the "Main Office", you will be sent to the Ukrainian-Russian front to die for Putin.

Europeans are finally beginning to understand the danger of Russian propaganda. Screening of Russian propaganda film about war in Ukraine cancelled in Italian town - https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/01/21/7438249/
Vladyslav
Why on earth would they consider screening it anyway? Of course Russians early saw the profitable use of film in Eisenstein's work such as Potemkin and the steps, never used in the actual events, and Alexander Nevsky, unlikely to be Russian. Interestingly, the Russian attempt to take the Novgorod polity was very similar to Russia's present attempt to take Ukraine, through initial threats and territorial degradation. Of course Muscovy did not then reference itself as Russia, only later when Muscovy tried to get the Ruthenians to accept their leadership. Then as now the people refused.
I watched a Russian propaganda film recently. They are quite well done. A Russian soldier running across a battlefield to bring voting material for the upcoming election. Since these voting slips have zero value perhaps a few handguns would have been better. Or coffins. Still, their production values if not their ethics are high.
Michael Johnson, the Speaker, is trying to prevent Ukrainian funding in order, probably, to smooth the path for Trump's re-election and, as with many confessed Christians, feels little if any guilt over the disaster he will cause by both aiding Russia and Trump. The USA needs to reconsider its constitution. Many lives, incalculable lives, could be lost through the actions of a single man of no great intelligence but with a connection to god. What god, though?
Hacking assistant to vice-speaker of the Russian State Duma: agents of influence in Serbia and media campaigns in the EU - https://informnapalm.org/en/hacking-assistant-to-vice-speaker-of-the-russian-state-duma/
Ignorant Stanley is, as always, full of it. The issue is IMMIGRATION stanley the ignorant. Ukraine AND ISRAEL fundings are merely leverage. OF course Johnson asks for a strategy - this is US money not Ukraine's and the power and responsibility for the budget rests with the House and its Speaker as established in the CONSTITUTION about which you clearly know crap all.
If we are speaking of intelligence, yours would clearly be in question but it's more likely you were offering a petulant childish ad hominem.
Ukraine will get funding ignorant stanley, IMMIGRATION is the more important issue to the US.
As for strategy, I understand it "attrition" and harassment. After the failed offensive and the obvious limitation in manpower due to cowards like Vladslav, another offensive is prob not realistic nears term if at all..
Phil Geis. "...elitist...", "...typical of many academics..." Phil, are you envious? With these words, you confirmed that you do not belong to scientists :) Most likely, you are not who you say you are. Did you hack the account of an American scientist? If you're really an American, why do you behave like a Russian (I mean brashness and boorishness)? This is a classic method of Russian propaganda - If there are no facts, and no one believed the empty words or it is uncomfortable to answer simple questions - you must start hysteria, accuse, and provoke the opponent. And your reaction to the photos of the university bombed by the Russians further proves that you are not a scientist (especially not an American scientist). CAREFULLY re-read your instructions and follow them carefully. Otherwise, you risk not getting the next money for your posts. It is necessary to work better! Vlad,
When frauds appear, ignore them!
There is opposition appearing against Johnson, and talk of replacing him. Just that they must not repeat their mistake and get another god listener. I spoke with god last night and he told me Johnson is a liar, a fraud, as he only speaks to me. Now what I said was nonsense and people should call a madman a madman. If they do not get rid of him the harm he'll cause will effect generations.
Phil,
I don't respond to you because you're a troll and probably a fraud. I know what the real Phil Geis looks like. Please, post a photo. I have also been in touch with the university where the real Phil Geis works,
