In our ancient scriptures of the science of life, i.e., Ayurveda, Manasa a synonym of Sattva has been recognized as one of the four components of Ayu (life). Manasa, a Sanskrit word is derived from the root 'Mana Jnane' and 'Asun' suffix which means 'to think', 'to analyze'. What are the Characteristics Features of Manasa (Mind)?
Ayurveda has a unique specialty of holistic approach and includes all the factors which are necessary for maintenance of health. Trigunas are essential drives of the mind which differentiate individuals on the basisof their psychological constitution. Genetically determined, these psychological characteristics are dependent on the relative dominance of the three Gunas. Manasa Prakruti features pertain to the mind and mental activities of the person. Due to their resemblance in qualities to that of almighty god, names were designated accordingly. Totally 16 types of Manasika Prakruti are described in Charaka Samhita. After proper understanding of Satwa Prakruti one should initiate appropriate therapy.  Maha Prakruti’s are those which manifests due to influence of Satva, Raja and Tama and knowledge of the constitution is very much essential. Three types of psyche are described to be born from virtue, anger and delusion these are said to be superior, medium and inferior respectively.

Manasa, vaacha, karmana are three Sanskrit words. The word manasa refers to the mind, vaachaa refers to speech, and karmanaa refers to actions.
In several Indian languages, these three words are together used to describe a state of consistency expected of an individual. The motto Manasa, Vaacha, Karmana is usually invoked to imply that one should strive to achieve the state where one's thoughts, speech and the actions coincide.
I think mind is a abstract and universal in nature and always Fairless & free.

Manasa is one of three terms refer to the mind, the others being Citta and Viññāṇa. Generally, use in the "mind", but the three are sometimes used in sequence to refer to one’s mental processes as a whole.
In traditional Theravada Buddhism, mana or mano is the notion of mind as a whole, whereas a Citta is each of immediate steps or processes of the mind, and Viññāṇa is one of the several forms of Citta.
Manas described in thinking, which is closely associated with volitions because mental activity is one of the ways that volitions manifest them through body, speech, and thoughts.
Manasa Prakruti features pertain to the mind and mental activities of the person.

In Ayurveda, mind is a dual organ (sense organ +organ for action) as it is needed for the control of both. absence or presence of knowledge is the characteristic feature of mind. Oneness and minuteness are its qualities. in Gita; it is said that "Know that the soul is the master of the chariot, who sits within it and the body is the chariot; consider the intellect as the charioteer and the mind as the reins; and the senses may be said to be the horses and their roads the sense objects'.
