Stress can also be caused by others not pulling their weight on a committee and you have pick up the slack so that the work gets done. From a teaching perspective, when students are not getting it and their grades are sliding and you do not have enough time to do the necessary remediation to bring them up to par. The latter is sometimes due to using one teaching style that does not work for all the diverse backgrounds in the classroom as described in the attached.

If Management of an educational institution does not cooperate with teachers or a teacher fails to convince the authority for his or her need, stress and anxiety grows. Sometimes we faced worst form of political intervention, when our very existence and dignity were hurt. In such situation teacher faces tremendous stress and anxiety.
Sandra Mandal, you are correct. Stress can stem from many facets of the workplace. Stress can be caused due to lack of support from co-workers, administrators, and other entities where teachers have very little say. The level of stress in the workplace not only cause anxiety, but it can also cause other detrimental health issues.
The work load and the pressure of making sure the students perform well in public examinations are some of the factors that increases the stress and anxiety level of teachers at all level.
Most of the time it begins as a teacher beginner, it is caused by the growing desire that you had as a student teacher to get in to the field and just do what you love, only to get to an environment that has no support, with no resources, especially in disadvantaged backgrounds, and the effect last longer
My opinion is different in this regard. I agree with all the experts about their views for development of stress in teachers. For me the most important component for the development of stress and anxiety is the today's student especially at higher education level. The education organizations have transformed into industry and students have become the customers. And as you all will agree that customer satisfaction is the prime objective for the progress and growth of industry. Teachers have to deal with the customers in the class and not the students for whom the teachers were spiritual parents once. Teachers are more interested to satisfy the students so that they get good feedbacks and the real objective of education, transformation, has been left behind. In my opinion when teacher has to work like a sales man, get stressed and demotivated. This unwanted role of teacher develops stress and anxiety in him.
I agree with the many causes of stress described in previous answers. I also believe that when a teacher works outside of their personal strengths, this can cause a personal stress that effects not just work life but also home life. A downward spiral indeed!
This article discusses teacher burn-out, which seems to be the ultimate level of stress for teachers. What I have a problem with is the recommendation to maintain your "other life", which seems impossible if you are to get everything done that needs doing.
Farah Naz makes a very interesting point about students evolving from learners to customers. This has also changed the role of teaching from professional educator to that of servant.
I think there are several different reasons for teachers to feel stress. When teachers have too much on their plate, don't feel supported by by their boss and/or peers, have difficult students, or have their own personal problems they can experience the resulting feelings of stress.
Teachers feel stress when they have planned a lesson trajectory and students don't meet their expectations. Although we know the learning goals, it can be frustrating when some students may not have the background knowledge to make successful connections to the material. There are many reasons that students don't make these connections. It could be poverty related, language related or cognitive related. Often teachers are not able to identify the weakness.
If you look at positioning theory (Harré and van Langenhove) you can better understand the tension many teachers experience between their rights and their responsibilities in a Neoliberal regulatory system which is often pitched against their learner centred pedagogy. Teachers' administrative responsibilities and accountability regimes can consume the hours they would like to have for their teaching and for interactions with students.
When teachers are silenced and made to feel that teaching is on the low rung of the ladder for success, it causes a disheartening sadness, anger and tension.

Abstract
Stress events and depressive and anxiety symptoms present in public education network teachers involve factors that may affect the good performance of themselves and of their students. The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of anxiety, depression, and stress, and compare the data from elementary schools with high school and refers the subject to psychiatric service, when required. The research instruments were applied to 139 teachers from public schools in Alfenas-MG. After application, a lecture at each school was given to enlighten the teachers and give feedback about their condition, and affected individuals were referred for care and treatment. Data were analyzed using Bioestat 5.0 software through short steps. The results showed that levels of stress, depression, and anxiety symptoms of teachers in the public education network are high.
Glickman, Gordon and Ross-Gordon offer several reasons for teacher stress in their text SuperVision. Among them are inverted beginner responsibility, isolation and inadequate induction. (Pearson, 2014)
For me the causes of development of stress and anxiety in a teacher is to find out is the teacher work in teaching as job or occupation, if its job the teacher suffer from every thing around job which can make him or her feel anaxiety, stress, frustrate , and depression , from promotion, team work...etc. But if its occupation and he enjoy when he or she is in work feel more secure, happy about their prdouct, so i expect may be less stress
.evaluate the levels of anxiety, depression, and stress, its imortant may be to acoording to his or her motivation want to be more creative.
There are several causes of development of a teacher stress. 1) When a teacher lacks the necessary instructional tools and a conducive working environment . 2) A teacher who does not enjoy his/her work because of being in a profession that they feel is not their first calling. 3) When a teacher is by passed during promotion and they feel they deserve it. 4) When they don't feel appreciated by parents and the students. 5) When the students become disruptive and disciplined. 6) When they feel discriminated by colleagues , students and parents. 7) When they are overworked because of lack of enough personnel.8) When they have issues with in their family the stress is transferred to the classroom.
There is a 'new managerialism' pervading national and international educational systems seeking to reduce the teaching profession to a monetary value. Consequently, there is a gradual undermining and devaluing of the worth of teachers. This is creating much stress and anxiety leading to good teachers opting to leave the system.
When considering stress in an organisation one has to consider the structure and context of the environment. Does the philosophy of the organisation conflict with your own values and beliefs? If the organisation functions on a business model then the number of students you are responsible tor may exceed the hours allocated for discussion, marking, preparation time, meetings etc. You may feel as if you are not coping which impacts on your identity, both personal and professional thus creating further stress . You may be short of resourses and feel that your immediate manager does not listen to you. However, they may be unable to due to financial restraints associated with the business model..
Are your colleagues stressed as this can lead to a hostile enviroment which impacts on other staff and students. What type of support is available? Do you get professional supervision which is know to help relieve workplace stress and prevent people leaving the profession.

I share the views expressed above:
The feeling to be observed pursuant to unilateral policies, lack of commitment to both the students and the school authorities, the lack of autonomy, the excess of work (especially the bureaucratic work) make losing motivation to the teacher and make to increase their anxiety and stress.
Some stresses in the classroom can stem from classroom management; large classes can be especially difficult to manage, particularly second language classes. Some classes can contain students of differing levels, and teaching to one particular level could cause the students to turn their attention away. In addition, it's very difficult to pay attention to all students adequately. My solution for this has been twofold: 1) put the students into manageable groups that can be focused on individually, and 2) teach towards as many of the students as possible while enrolling the higher level students to volunteer or help more in the classroom.
Low student motivation can also be a cause of stress. To help with student motivation, I've installed a 'volunteer list' where students who volunteer to say or write an answer get extra points at the end of the semester. I never push the students; the list is always there, and they can volunteer or not. I've noticed that student involvement has increased with this simple addition, and their motivation also goes up because they're actively participating.
Your suggestion is practical and doable. I agree with you that one of the causes of stress among teachers is the large number of students in a class. Managing large classes is difficult and alot of the time the quality of teaching and interaction with the students is at stake. Organising group activities with students of mix abilities would help teachers manage the learning better.
I should think the extreme caution required to teach in such a litigious society rife with special interests would be the greatest source of stress for a teacher.
In my setting - Healthcare - Nursing - I see many definitions related to context. in caregiver stress, respite is the ability to take time and to move away from the existing situation knowing the individual is being cared for by a qualified person. Meiner (2011) talks about it as a "time out" or a form of time limited relief.

I agree Susan. Without involvements and interests unrelated to my chosen discipline, I have no depth of life, and thus no perspective. Perspective is 3-D, and too often professionals are completely absorbed in their singular pursuit live only a 2-D life. For instance, what does an gain from being renowned in his or her field, if he or she takes no time to appreciate a fine painting, enjoy great music, read great literature, engage in pleasant conversation, or just sit and think? I don't grow roses; but I sure like to take time to smell 'em.
Absolutely critical point, John - and Susan. That's been my biggest concern with ed reform efforts around accountability over the past decade - so much more time demanded of classroom teachers, it's increasingly challenging to find the balance needed to bring a "whole person" into contact with students. We teach content for sure, but we also teach, by our presence, positive ways of being an engaged, curious, and informed human - with the capacity to appreciate life's nuances and mysteries.
Well said, Linda. By the way, I should have proofread my response to Susan more carefully. A couple of words are missing...must've been too busy smelling roses.
I think the main cause of the stress of teachers is not getting their students to achieve the proposed competence in their subject so as not to have methodological strategies that encourage students to be self-advocates for their learning and to learn to learn.
Depends on the teaching context Shahina. Most teachers are overwhelmed with administrative work and form-filling. Constant revision of the curriculum , introduction of new methods, poor performance of students at exams, student misconduct, large classes and no time for recreation are also among the causes of stress and anxiety among teachers.
if parents are at faraway distance and students are working with some one who just allow the students to school in morning just and they whole remaining time students remain busy in his /her master domestic activity , they how this student will get good education?

I support each of your points and would add textbooks that have too much to cover in a semester = content overload which is tied to the syllabus - 15 weeks is insufficient to cover the material.
Additionally, the time required for the students to take the tests in the classroom, can erode content delivery.
A teacher primarily should teach students, developing their personalities and cognitive skills but when more time has to be spent on other things, responsibilities, clerical work, it becomes frustrating. Moreover, when one gets the feeling of being in a thankless situation, in spite of contributing maximum, one can get frustrated.
Professors are required to be effective teachers, outstanding scholars and provide service to their communities. These roles are sometimes cumbersome and may be conflicting.
Current Academic field is exhausting for professors because it obligates them to teach many subjects at the same time, do research, write scientific papers and publish in prestigious journals. This situation provoke some bad feelings between teachers or professors, such as: anxiety, fatigue and boredom, although they are good professionals.
I have often heard that rather than the school students, parents create more problems, stress and anxiety for the teacher. Students usually obey the teacher and school policies with some exceptions. It is sometimes the parents that escalate seemingly harmless situations, report it to the school Principal and cause problems for the teacher.
If a person is teacher by choice then he can mange the stress and anxiety very easily.Pre planing of task, making semester academic calendar in advance makes the teaching task easy. The task of a teacher is to develop thinking skill among children.
The causes of stress are sometimes conflict among teachers ,engagement in non productive tasks, laking of happiness quotient in campus, inadequate infrastructure and absenteeism .
I'm currently working as a solfège and music theory teacher for a music academy. Although we handle the basic subjects, I often feel overwhelmed because it's such a huge responsibility. It is a constant criticism towards your methodology, and you always wonder if you are doing it right. Working with kids it's rather a challenge for me, they are impressive and everything you teach them, they'll follow even if it's right or wrong.
Stress develop when you feel that students are not acquiring the knowledge according to the standards. This also develop stress when you feel that set objectives are not going to be achieved, because objectives guide you towards aims and goals. Some time when their is lack of motivation like no promotion criteria after a long period of time etc
