It has been found that the Shola forest is formed in the Western ghats region and in some parts of the North East India what is the ecological cause of this type of vegetational symmetry?
Disjunctive high elevation (island) forests probably have the same current climate, same substrate (lithology) and the same post-glacial vegetation history. For the phenomena see my endemics article (although herbs in this case); however, in the same area we see the phenomena also with woody formations.
