Last year I attended an International Conference at the University of Utah about the teaching of pronunciation in second language learning and teaching. I notice that there was a general perception that there a lack of good methods to teach the pronunciation of segments in L2.
You might try having them do match-to-sample exercises, i.e., make recordings of the way things should sound and have them try to match it...they can even record themselves and judge if they are succeeding . Peter Ladefoged used to have a wonderful phonetics database on the UCLA website for 80 some-odd languages...as I recall, there were segment examples and sentence examples...I don't know if the phonetics department has kept it up, they might have in his memory.

There some excellent pedagogical suggestions and research dealing with pronuciation of L2 speakers in other disciplines. I would recommend looking at the work in speech-language pathology and in clinical linguistics. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's archival journals would be a start...I have downloaded and attached several examples from that discipline. Additionally, the journal, Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics, edited by Dr. Martin Ball also has some excellent articles addressing these issues. Having worked in both areas, I think there is much potential cross-fetilization between these applied linguistic disciplines. Hope this helps.
