I would like to cover the historical events that happened in Occupational Therapy History in the Philippines from 2005-2017. Can that considered a historical research design? I intend to interview and do archiving for this.
Yes. That would be called 'contemporary history'. There's a very useful book called 'The Contemporary History Handbook' edited by Brian Brivati, Julia Buxton and Anthony Seldon. Published by Manchester University Press, 1996. It includes sections on using archival sources and oral history.
Go for medical records, public services if they have them. Given that it's the Philippines speak with the large temples in the region. Not sure why I got contacted: I am more natural history.
If I were you, I would go to the archives at first. Maybe some hospitals have their own archives or library to keep the documents. But first of all you need to get the allowance to read the documents. Wish you good luck for your research :-)
In general terms, it is necessary to gather the scientific literature on the topic to be explored, placing emphasis on the terms occupational therapy and contemporary history of the Philippines, then an analysis of that literature should be made to establish limits and scope of your own research.
From this analysis you can determine the sources (field work, documentary research, interviews, etc.) and design your research project.
