There is a lot of research showing that CFD is beneficial to diagnose cardiovascular diseases. For example low wall shear stress in human aorta indicate the potential risk of aneurysms or rupture. What I am missing is a hemodynamical parameter that a physician understands, e.g. a parameter such as fractional flow reserve that has been known to estimate the effects of a narrowed vessel and was used to determine the need for stenting (see FAME and DEFEL studies). Are you aware of similar parameters that can be calculated from flow simulation and directly used in diagnosis ?
