The term "PhET" was coined by a Team led by a Nobel Prize in Physics, Prof. Carl Wieman & "PhET" was originally an acronym for Physics Education Technology (*)

To cite & paraphrase the web link (*): "The PhET sim project was founded in 2002 by Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman and his Team at university of Colorado Boulder. Moreover,

the PhET Interactive Simulations project creates free interactive math & science simulations."

The main goal of this thread is to describe & share some experiences about the use of the PhET sim within the proposed by the PhET Team: "Active Learning Strategies & Inquiry Based Learning" which are three

  • Therefore, A pivotal point for teachers, instructors, and lectures is that PhET simulations are Interactive Learning Environments that use Interactive Learning Strategies that can be applied to each lesson at different levels of instruction: Elementary, Middle, High School, Colleges & Universities
  • Additionally, they serve and complement for STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, & Computer Science)
  • The PhET site includes simulations of other subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Earth Sciences covering most aspects of STEM education. It also include a considerable amount of teaching and learning material, about 3292 teacher-submitted lessons
  • In total there are 163 sims supported by HTML5 (most of them), Java, & Flash. 150 of them are translated in several languages. Here I link to the Spanish cite: https://phet.colorado.edu/es/
  • The students can start PhET sim use, exploring how different laws of nature are applied.

We have to use the citation to the PhET sims didactic material in the following way :
