I'd like to assemble a list of studies both currently active and not active, but that went on for longer than 4 years. We have a stream salamander mark-recapture study at three sites with data collection ongoing for three years, and an occupancy study (not mark-recapture) that took place over three years at 102 sites. Both projects conducted to investigate influence of forestry practices on herps. I am just interested in learning about others, to improve questions we can ask in future.
Ken Kozak and his lab at University of Minnesota have been studying salamanders in North America for a number of years, mostly montane salamanders though.

I have also developped still unpublished multievent capture-recapture models that could allow testing hypotheses about symmetric movements (upstream vs downstream) in dendritic river systems. It could be nice to apply these models on your biological system.
For your presence-absence data, it could be nice to use multistate occupancy models to model occurence probability of non-breeding adults and reproduction. I have recently extented the "classic" multistate single season occupancy model to quantify interannual changes (colonization-extinction) of non-breeding adults and reproduction occurrence. The paper is under review and should be accepted soon:

Patrick Moldowan, in Njal Rollinson's lab at the University of Toronto, is conducting a population study on spotted salamanders. The study has been going since 2008 (originally started by Glenn Tattersall at Brock University), but I don't think anything's been published on it yet.
