What are negative effects of reduction of stem length by growth regulators in wheat?

Dear all! When speaking with some farmers, I entered, that in some cases the application of growth regulators designed for reducing stem length and prevent lodging may have negative effect of wheat yield. However, I cannot find any scientific papers proving this. Could you provide any suggestion? Michał

We didn't observe any negative effects using a PGR on winter wheat. For the most part, application of a PGR actually protected or even improved yield. Manuscript in preparation for submission next month
