We have conducted the contact angle data with CO2 at high pressure and high temperature, however, our results report a small deviation from the reported results in the literature. What are the main factors which should be considered for repeating the tests?
Contact may vary with 1) temperature of surface and and liquid 2) also depends upon temperature of surrounding air 3)evaporation of liquid at high temperature
Contact angle depends upon many factors. Some important factors are pH of the solution, mineralogical composition of rock and its distribution, surface roughness, temperature, droplet volume etc.
In your case, it may be due to mineralogical composition variation or droplet volume keeping other things constant.
You can repeat the test by taking constant drop volume as much as possible and for mineralogical concerns, you can take two to three drops at different places of rock substrate.
