Many of this processes in atmosphere, water, complex soil and intracorporal surroundings can not be monitored easyly, "programmed" bio-sensors offer chances for that.

One is the data collection the other data analysis. Both are in transition at present. Machine learning systems will lead us probably farther than we can foresee, at least in the field of agricultural sciences. However, I believe that the breeder will always remain an important person in the breeding process. And, in general, that artificial intelligence will not be able to overgrow the human mind. In details- yes, but not in general.

And I suppose, that we have problem with food quality and distribution. This is a misconception - more and cheaper food. And civilization diseases show this clearly.

I see that we (means me) are moving away from the main thread of bio-medicine. Sorry

May we consider the entire field of biomimicry. Considerable progress have been made by many, many dedicated scientists. Nature has no wastes.

The purpose is not to make money but feeding people by letting them work on land they do not own, but they can use and exploit with their family. This land will become fertile at some places due to their efforts.

Water sun and land together with people is like activation energy to create food, life and existence, quite anywhere, with the chance to enter into the high tech efficient society and entering into the money cycle anywhere.

Given the continuous increase of the world’s population, degree of pollution, and climate change, the human health and supply of healthy food to people all over the world is becoming one of the most critical challenges for all mankind. The governments in developing countries are under enormous pressure from their people who rightly demand proper provision of medical services and supply of healthy food, drinkable water, as well as the opportunities to farm and harvest live giving crops.

The Corn, Wheat, Soya, Rice, Citrus are one of the most important commercial and nutritional fruit crops in the world. Each crop individually needs to be improved to cater to the diverse needs of consumers and crop breeders.

One way to increase the crop production is a genetic manipulation through conventional techniques. However, any genetic crop manipulation by plant breeders, presents number of biological challenges and limitations. Most of the crops are very sensitive to temperature and moisture fluctuations and require particular time period for proper growth and maturation of fruit.

Countries in South East Asia, including Japan, South Korea are very conscious about preserving and farming a fruitful soil. Small pieces of soil in the areas of the large cities, or by the rail tracks and main roads are effectively converted to small gardens, where people plant crops, vegetables, and fruits. Each piece of fruitful soil is most valued and farmed most effectively. Unfortunately, there other regions of the world, where lot of potentially fruitful soil that is not farmed and wasted to some extent.

Good understanding and effective application of Biology fundamentals principles, contributes to creation of next generation of bio-computing technologies able to build a biological models, illustrating how the human brain works, how DNA works, how protein folding works, and sequencing of the human genome. Current advancements in implementing DNA databases provide a platform to model disease diagnosis, with very sophisticated analytical tools to predict disease progression and potential healing processes.

The way we live and the way the humanity will continue to live on our wonderful Blue Planet is in the hands of all of us. Regardless of geographical location or, age, sex, education or position that one may have, we are all equally responsible for preserving life of our children, grandchildren and many generations to come after us.

Apart from technological advancement in bio-technologies and bio-computing, the political will of decision makers to protect and preserve our wonderful Blue Planet for many future generations to come is critical.

The last sentence says "political will of decision makers". Assumes they have will or are even willing to have will.

We cannot and must not subscribe to a constant rulership of Trump-like creatures. Mothers may know what's best for their children - to have a life and be good. Politicians have mothers, wives, sisters and children? Can they conceive of a sustainable world not driven by invisible power brokers?

I think that this question does not have any significance. In effect, it corresponds to two different problems. First, what are the (efficient, actual) developments of technologies? And second, what are the bio-domains that need them (effectively, actually)? Interactions between these two topics fall under the competence of researchers who accept to be at the interface between biology and engineering, being consequently rejected by the two communities, that of (pure/true) biologists and that of (pure/true) engineers in spite of their absolute importance, as observed in the french academic model.

I am an old man, an old referee, and the increasing number of manuscripts proposed by either engineers or biologists whose ambition is to revolutionize science because of the nth development(s) of technologies shocks me deeply.

The effective progresses in science are due to the mix of technologies, expertise, the perfect knowledge of a domain and a touch of impertinence: they didn't know that it was impossible, thus they did it! The rest is of trifling importance, unproductive speculations only…

Hi everyone!

A month ago I was watching a TV show from a German production house (DW), and word was about Quatar and its development. The narrator said a sentence like"...and Quatar is a very developed country thanks to vast oil reserves it exploits on its territory." I immediately wondered why so the same (or any other Western production house) doesn't say a word about WWII inheritance including industrial infrastructure made by forced labor and enslavement of each and every small European country, or the treasures left on territory of Germanic nations that helped industry to gain momentum in these regions, or why when it comes to wealth and the great development on the continent of North America, no one says anything about slavery, and segregation that helped privileged people to accumulate capital and install what today we call liberal capitalism, or who said anything about imperialism and subjugation of Ireland, Scotland, or colonization when we talk about Great Britain, and so on... These are the events that today reflect as development.

Today, scientific development is mainly through this or that way financed by large companies, that show no interest to feed the poor, just to organize and then colonize their market. Shure this leads to advances in all fields of science and engineering, but whatever any one of us would feel about his or her job and motives, on large scale we scientific workers are as well subjugated by large capital.

So, when I try to summate what would future world look like, i would say that post-capitalism is definitely due next, or maybe even now. That next era can be called total control, or enslavement.

Those at the forefront of development will feel as their ideas motor the development in the undeveloped world, but growth of the human population, shortage of resources, and climate change will just deepen the gap between two sides.

I did not want to sound too pessimistic, but being a scientist should also mean trying to be objective and not to see anything too bright nor too dark.

In biocomputing, i believe that the next great thing will be the discovery of several variables or phenomena that can explain residual variance in models applied on all living creatures. So, i believe that models and predictions should become more relevant and precise, as well as statistics in general. Also, I think this will lead to faster development of supercomputers, whose development will then lead development of more sophisticated mathematical approaches and so on. Basically, I think that the sectors in which the money is made (Biotechnology, food, industry) will even more support the developments in natural sciences.

Actually, this will not be an answer as this bracket states, I am simply trying to put my objective reasoning to yours:

Sooo, what you are basically saying is: overcoming biology with biotechnology --> a term biohacking comes to mind?? However, up until now the biology has allways been on the winning side of things...and still is. Biohacking to everyone would also mean equal distribution of said technology (tech-socialism of sorts??) in order to secure an equal starting point towards development...but, can this be made affordable/sustainable --> thinking about nano-tech as a viable solution, even nano-bot vaccines (I am being bold, or BORG here, hehehe)?

Also think about predatory mental set-up which is ingrained within sentient beings upholding hierarchical strucutures within antropomorphic space/time --> take todays institutions for example (are they becoming obsolite then??).

And the final question: is the potential idealism behind all this even worth it --> possible religious conotations towards a new tech/industrial/android/superplant/superhuman indoctrination with a huge possibility of future extremism? Just imagine "Terminator" the film becoming a new post-modern bible or gospel of sorts...ahh, soo many questions.

Ergo, being a slave is actually a state of mind first and foremost...give men freedom and they would not be able to do anything with it --> an interesting paradox of our universe, don't you think?! It seems like the joke is on us!
