I am a policy debater trying to think of a possible education reform in education. I'm looking into astronomy education, but I am stuck and need some leads from experts if not a definitive answer.
By teaching Astronomy, students can be drawn in to learn the underlying basic sciences of Physics, Applied Maths, and Chemistry, as well as the applied subjects such as Engineering.
I have recently started some work here and have had to brush up on all my basic Sciences. The work in progress is at:
Amateur astronomy is a popular hobby in many countries. It helps that it's a field where amateurs can make a siginificant contribution by increasing coverage of the sky. Outreach programs to local amateur astronomy groups can be a way of dawing in new students and increasing awareness of academic achievements in the community.
The universe is the only one and largest mass exist. To study astronomy is to understand the universe and all of the things belonging to it, including we human, one kind of life. Why should there be life? Why we have reason and wisdom? Spinoza said, God and the universe are identical, i.e. the God is the universe, and the Universe is the God. God is almighty and eternal. So, the universe is timeless and boundless, in which all kinds of mass existing are possible. Then, we are there asking and answering questions.
As well as when you get to a new place you need to grab a map and locate yourself in your new surroundings, for the new minds that arrive to this world they need to know where they located with respect to a greater context, this gives perspective and without perspective there is no vision, and without vision there is no future. If the new generations are our future, they need perspective and vision to fulfill that role.
