Usually descriptive norms are measured in the fashion that individuals are asked something along the lines “how do people from a certain group behave?” For example how much do your friends drink during the weekends or how much energy do your neighbors consume?

Do you know any studies that ask something like “What is normative behavior in context XZY (or situation XYZ)?” or “The normal behavior in this context is XYZ” or “The normative behavior show in this situation is XZY”

So what I´m looking for are studies / measures that focus more on appropriate behavior in a certain context and less on a specific reference group as in the common way to measure descriptive norms described in the beginning.

Thanks,

Arne
