Present education mainly focus on information. Even in experimental sciences also laboratory practice has become more or less ritual. But as Whitehead had said that merely a well informed person person is a burden on this earth, so one must distinguish between 'information' and 'knowledge'.

The main purpose of education is increasing information and improving skills. As for the difference between information and wisdom, information can be considered as an aggregation of processed data which makes its use easier and meaningful, whereas knowledge refers to the human understanding of a subject matter that has been acquired through proper study and experience or world around him.

Information can be stored in computer and one can program it so that the information can be used. Unless a man is trained to use the information judiciously society will never advanced. You will agree that the present day civilization is due to such judicious applications. So unless knowledge is given a proper place in education civilization will be hampered.
