I am looking for reviews of works and recent findings about Metal-ion batteries materials. At the moment, Is there any commercially available anode material (other than graphite) in Metal-ion battery technology.? How come (Na/K)-ion batteries are still being researched while Li-ion batteries are common worldwide?. Are there any new rechargeable consumer battery technologies in theory or under development that improve on lithium that is presently used in most all modern-day electronics? How might it stack up in terms of capacity, size ratio vs. lithium?

Compared to the Li batteries, the main advantageous of the Na batteries is the fast charging. Actually, we can charge the Na batteries until 4C ( especially for the french technology developed at Tiamat energy). In addition, the cycling of the Na batteries is very easy compared to the Li batteries, because we can discharge the battery until 0V, so there is no current, and no dangerous, to open the battery.
Without forgetting that the Na batteries are more safe and cheaper.
Thank you Asmae El Mejdoubi very much for all this information, I am currently interested in the choice of anode materials for Metal-ion batteries (Na, K). Do you have any idea about anode materials that are already commercialized for Na-batteries? I am interested in the development of new anode materials beyond graphite using First principle study (DFT-Calculations).
I am not chemical researcher. You can search the publications of Jean Marie Tarascon, he is specialized in sodium batteries. Good luck

To my knowledge there is no commercially available material for Na anodes. The most used ones in labs are: hard carbon, alloys like antimony, tin .. and conversion materials like oxides.
The same graphite used in Li-ion can be used for K-ion (with less capacity).

Their work includes studies of candidate anodes for Na-ion batteries, and a lot on Li-ion battery materials, coupled with experimental verification (often with solid-state NMR).
