It should be studied before depending on the case, but I am aware that CTAB (Cetrimonium bromide) is widely used as a surfactant for nanoparticles synthesis. You can check more info on it on Google Scholar!
the appropriate choice of surfactant, particularly for materials with amine groups, can be highly dependent on the pH of the synthesis and also on the initiator. Depending on your choices on all the mentioned parameters, you may influence the particle size and morphology . I attached two publications, which deal with the influence of pH value on amine containing particles and the general influence of anionic, non-ionic and cationic surfactants on particle size and morphology of acrylamide microgels.
