Yes it is possible to use AI in microbiology lab. I think there are several options. Depending on your data you must build model or use an existing one, adapt it to your own data, fitting and testing data and measuring the performance of the model before implementing it. I recommend you check some Coursera, Udacity or Datacamp courses if you are just starting AI.
