Thanks for taking the time to read this. I conducted a survey with a scale that was based on prior research. But now I am struggling with my CFA results. I tested seven latent variables, and the model fit is fine, except for the fact that the factors correlate (see picture 1). So I thought, it might be a candidate for second order CFA (see picture 2). However, when I compare summaries of fit, it seems like the seven factor model is better than the second order one.

In theory, a model like picture 3 would fit (and as I tried CFA with it, the fit measures are great, too).

Is it possible to use CFA like I did with model 3? R lets me do it, but I guess I am missing a point.

I uploaded fit measures (picture 4) as well for better judgement.

Also: Assuming model 3 does not work with CFA, which model would you pick?

& is it possible to structure model 3 with SEM afterwards?

Thanks for your feedback, let me know if something is unclear.
