There is a vast literature production to the topic of "waste management behavior". However, in order me to support you to simplify your search to fundamental dimensions that can be recommended among lecturers and teachers, the following issues can be considered:
a) Environmental dimension: wastewater treatment units, wastes outflows no exceeding the ecological carrying capacity of local natural resources.
b) Social dimension: under the principles of "the polluter pays", "not in my backyard (NIMBY)" phenomenon, transboundary pollution.
c) Economic dimension: Circular Economy Valuation (CEV) and Ecological Systemsns Valuation (ESV).
d) Methods/Treatments applied, like: separation between organic and non-organic fractions, homogenization method of wastes, composting, (valuable) materials' recovery, 5Rs - Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Refuse and Rethink.
Hope that it would be helpful at an university environment, too.
