Hi I am working on fracture modelling for machining process. I have written VUMAT code for my fracture model and it is successfully validated on single element in Abaqus/explicit. However, when I try to implement the same code for my machining problem, it is exiting with error- excessive element distortion..
Can any one help me?
For VUMAT code which software you have used? Generally, Python, Matlab or some other tools used which are compatible with ABAQUS/Explicit. I have done few attempts with python with Abaqus for deep drawing process.
Excessive distortion can have a large number of reasons, like hourglassing, elements being deleted so rapidly that large-amplitude elastic waves form, failure strains are too large so that plastic deformation is too large before failure and a lot more.
If you use failure only to simulate the material separation in front of the tool, it may help if you only allow failure for elements that are close to the tool tip.
