Can we analyse muscle fibres that have been stored in RNALater by Mass Spec? We have samples stored in RNALater for PCR Analysis but would also like to run these samples on MS for protein analysis. Ideally RNALater does not contain any detergent based chemicals which would interfere in our analysis

I haven't myself tried it but I have read couple of articles which demonstrates that the sample stored in RNAlater can be used for LC-MS/MS analysis. The RNAlater solution is known to contain high concentration of sulfates which results in denaturation of proteins, including DNases, RNases, and proteases, which further allow better stabilization of the DNA, RNA, and protein content.
