(if there is a miswording in definition please inform- I am actually a beginner in studying immunology) I was wondering, '' Are there any other tests except ELISA to evaluate the presence of such diseases'' - based on antibody level in fluids taken from patients.
Hi Furkan, I suggest you to check antibody tests, also refers as serology tests. There are different types of serological tests; Agllutination, Immunodiffusion (ID), Complement fixation test (CFT), Lateral flow assay (LFA), Counter immuno-electrophoresis (CIE), Radio immunosorbent assay (RIA) and Enzyme linked immunosorbent asay (ELISA) as you already know. ELISAs typically measure one of two things. Antibodies - which indicate that a person has been infected and responded. They may or may not still be infected.
Antigens - measures a part or whole of the infectious organism. Indicates that a person is most likely still harboring infectious organisms.
