My PI and I are hoping to start a completely online Pre-Post survey using REDCap. We'll be sampling college students at our institution.
How can we prevent abuse of this system (e.g., the same person logging on multiple times to receive the participant payment more than once.) Are there features in REDCap that you'd recommend using? I don't think it can track IP addresses, but correct me if I am wrong. Short of that, what other options might we have?

As far as I know, REDCap does not employ an IP checking. However, as the survey involves a monetary incentive, I think it would be justifiable to ask for a unique personal identification number, such as the social security number. Here in Brazil we usually ask for the participant's full name and personal identification number in order to process payments and to guarantee that there are not duplicated entries.
Another option would be to use REDCap's e-mail invitation feature if you have the complete list of eligible individuals. Thus, you could control which participant had responded to the survey by its e-mail address.
Sarah Gillespie I would not recommend this approach. We are current,y receiving hundreds of fraudulent enrollments every day. Fortunately, there are multiple steps and a moderated online session before any payment is disburse. However, sorting through these fraudulent enrollments to find genuine participants is a grueling task and I am interested in anything that others have found useful, including setting geographical limits, for instance. We have tried a couple of simple captchas with limited success.
