I am trying to simulate the effects of a Passive Tuned Mass Dampener would have on my model building. I am stuck on how to get the damping ratio from my pendulum which I would have to build a model for, I am assuming? Also, once I build it would I use the buildings initial frequency/period to estimate the length of the pendulum and thus use this to get the damping ratio?
Not to mention, which program is recommended to use for the effect on the building? (I was thinking of either ANSYS or Seismostruct) Does anyone know of any programs where I could model the effects of a simple pendulum, specifically when applied to a building structure?

Since a tuned mass dampener is a simple 3D spring mass damping system/oscillator even a simple pendulum, in order to simulate it in Seismostruct you could use a link element with one joint connected to the structure (usually on the upper part) and the other joint free. You should assign mass to the system (connecting the second free joint to a mass element), stiffness (you could use the linear elastic – lin_sym curve for the link element and assign the stiffness of the spring) and also damping. For the damping you could use the link element damping option, OR you could connect a second link element in parallel to the first using the viscous damper curve (vsc_dmp) for the second link.
Concerning the values for damping, mass and stiffness of your damper they should depend on the mass/ natural period of your structure and there are several handbooks explaining the design procedure even by damper vendors (for example here by MAURER https://www.maurer.eu/fileadmin/mediapool/01_products/Schwingungsdaempfer/Broschueren_TechnischeInfos/TI_001_EN_MAURER_TMD_2016_03_17_2VERSUCH.pdf)
