I am done with the coding process of interview transcripts. According to Grounded theory there are two approaches for the same 1)The Gioia approach-In which the existing literatures are kept out in the early stages. 2) The twin-slate approach- where the literatures are integrated at the early stages. I have adapted the twin- slate approach for my research. However, I have following concerns:

1) The essence of grounded theory lies in finding the hidden themes. In my coding process I have tried to relate the emerging themes with established constructs as those construct would be validated through a survey (sequential mix-method research). If anyone can suggest me whether I should continue the same way or I should not relate the emerging themes with established constructs?

2) The scales that are used to measure those constructs are contextually different. That is they have same definition as the themes but their measuring scales are different. For example there is a parent code- perceived ethical climate, which in the previous studies has been measured by items such has "my organisation has clearly written ethical code of conduct", "my company strictly enforces code of ethics" etc, however, it does not measure the perceived ethical climate according to the interview responses. What should I do, can I develop new items for established constructs ?or should I add only few items? or I should change the code?
