I have submitted a manuscript and it is under review. I would refer the submitted as 'original work' and another article as 'extended work'. The original work had 15k words count, which was beyond the scope of many management journals. I had cut short it to 9k words. So my 'extended work' is a part of 'original work' that I am preparing for the next submission. However, I am not sure how many words I can take from 'original work' in order to keep the essence intact.

Can anyone tell how much of self-plagiarism is allowed for publications?
